At Wethersfield Academy for the Arts, we believe young artists deserve more than just art class—they deserve a place where imagination runs wild, pencils dance across the page, and paintbrushes bring stories to life.

Our Youth Sessions are multi-week classes led by resident artists who know how to spark curiosity and nurture creativity. Students explore still life, master copies, oil painting, and sketching, building strong artistic foundations while having fun. Whether they’re just discovering the joy of a well-sharpened pencil or already filling sketchbooks faster than you can say Leonardo da Vinci, there’s something for every young artist.

Unlike our Workshops, which are short and immersive, Youth Sessions unfold like a beautifully illustrated story—one lesson at a time—giving students the space to explore, experiment, and grow.

A Summer of Creativity Awaits!

Our Summer 2026 Youth Art Program has wrapped, and what a creative summer it was! Young artists ages 7–16 spent their summer exploring color, creativity, and imagination through exciting weekly classes in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.

Each week brought new artistic adventures, with engaging topics designed to spark curiosity, build skills, and encourage young artists to explore their own creativity. From first-time artists to experienced young creatives, students had the opportunity to learn, experiment, and have fun in a welcoming studio environment.
