The Future of Atelier @ W.A.F.T.A
At W.A.F.T.A., we are embarking on a delightful reimagining of our Atelier program to better serve the whimsical and practical needs of our cherished students. The Academy has long been a haven, a place where serious artists-in-training find themselves under the tutelage of distinguished resident and visiting artists, immersed in the classical methods of figure, portrait, and still life. Our Atelier program warmly opens its doors to all, from the eager beginner to the seasoned professional seeking to refine their craft. No prior instruction is required; one merely needs to sign up and begin their artistic voyage.
Our philosophy has always been deeply rooted in the classical tradition of art, a tradition that venerates the study of the natural world and sees the human form as a mirror of the order and balance inherent in nature. Through the meticulous observation of nature’s wonders, artists gain the knowledge and skills to express their visions through visual art, unhampered by gaps in technical training.
In our quest for modernization, we envision an Atelier that not only embraces brilliant visiting artists but also nurtures the budding artist within the comforting walls of our studios. We understand that not every artist can devote themselves to full-time study and that the artistic journey often begins from unexpected places. By honoring these realities, we believe the next masters can emerge from anywhere. Our modern endeavor is built to allow artists to progress at a pace they believe best suits their development—whether in the blink of an eye, driven by newfound enthusiasm, or at the steady, comfortable pace of a lifelong dream. We hope to create a space that accommodates all these rhythms, allowing artists to work in the classic, timeless styles they cherish.
We invite you to join us in what will be an ongoing discussion in the months to come as we strive to ensure that our Atelier continues to be a beacon for aspiring artists everywhere.
