The Mission of the Wethersfield Academy for the Arts is to: - Provide for the advancement of artistic education
- Teach basic principles of art, music, drama, and dance
- Provide opportunities for the perfection of artistic skills through apprenticeship, exhibition, and performance
- Promote interest in and appreciation for the arts through community outreach
- Elevate the general artistic standard
The Academy aspires to fulfill its mission by providing the following services to its members, the community, and the general public:
- Artistic Instruction – Set in an attractively restored historic building, instruction in art and the performing arts will be provided on a regular basis to members of the Academy for a set fee.
- Scholarships - At a future date, the Academy intends to offer limited scholarships for instruction to individuals who demonstrate promise in their field.
- Studio Space – The Academy will offer studio facilities to working artists, in exchange for instructional services to be provided by the artists.
- Teaching Space – For teaching artists, the Academy will provide classroom facilities for art instruction.
- Exhibition Space – The Academy will provide gallery space for artists to exhibit their works and for exhibition of future collected works of the Academy.
- Performing Arts – Musical, dance, and dramatic performances will be staged at or under the sponsorship of the Academy.
- Community Outreach Events – The Academy will partner with community groups and other charitable organizations to sponsor events that promote community goodwill and provide benefit to target groups.
